Monroe Community College - Theater Renovation Project
PDG was awarded the AIA NYS Design Award (Institutional - Award of Citation); AIA Rochester 2017 Merit Award; Excelsior Awards for Public Architecture; and The Rochester Chapter CSI Flower City Award.
The renovation of the Brighton Campus Theater included: replacement of antiquated 550-seat fixed seating layout, redesigned for wheelchair seating and exiting guidelines; acoustical consultation and analysis of existing theater; acoustical modeling and optimization; design of all interior finishes with acoustically high-performance panel and finish systems; evaluation and design of stage main curtain; design and replacement of digital theater sound reinforcement and hearing assistance systems; acoustical isolation of theater space, including air duct and mechanical equipment silencing; theater house and stage lighting design and full replacement; and accessibility, exiting, and exiting visibility upgrades. A high definition laser scan was performed to provide accurate spatial information. From the seating layout, to lighting and stage mechanics, the scan was used to achieve the final design.
