SUNY Canton Chaney Dining Hall Renovation: Phase II
Chaney Hall at SUNY Canton serves as the main dining hall on campus. Completed in 1966, the original kitchen and dining layouts, as well as the kitchen equipment, were outdated and inefficient. PDG provided plumbing and fire protection engineering for this phase of the Hall’s renovation, which revised the layout from a service line to a food court style dining experience. PDG’s plumbing scope of work involved the complete rehabilitation of the commercial kitchen area including fixtures; domestic water; waste, vent, and natural gas piping; and grease interceptors as well as utilities for all kitchen equipment. PDG coordinated with the kitchen consultants for equipment and fixture requirements, and engineered utility connections and relocations as required. Toilet room renovations included low flow LEED certifiable fixtures as well as new piping infrastructure. The Hall was renovated for ADA accessibility and compliance with current Fire Prevention and Building codes. Sprinkler coverage included full hydraulic analysis as well as a concealed and exposed wet pipe sprinkler system. This project was designed to LEED silver requirements.
