Maiden Lane Bridge Replacement
Location: Greece, NY
Owner: Town of Greece
APWA Genesee Valley Branch - Project of the Year Award for Transportation Projects less than $5M category
The bridge carrying Maiden Lane over Round Pond Creek was a structurally deficient cast-in-place 20 foot clear span bridge. The bridge carries five lanes of traffic and sidewalks in the busy urban area, with over 10,000 cars per day. The project replaced the existing bridge with a new precast concrete three-sided structure with fill type retaining wall wingwalls founded on an invert slab. The bridge was made wider to improve the hydraulic opening and a natural stream bottom was provided. Highway work was limited to tying into the existing roadway profile and horizontal section. A traffic study and accident analysis was included in the scope of work.
