Keuka College Weed Physical Arts Center Renovations - Phases I & II
Built in 1973 and updated throughout the years, the Weed Physical Arts Center is home to four of Keuka’s 15 intercollegiate teams, intramural programs, and various community activities. The building contains two gymnasiums, a weight room, fitness center, and offices for coaching staff. Popli Design Group (PDG) provided professional services in two phases to the College for a total renovation of Weed Hall.
Phase I: This project created a new multi-purpose gymnasium, converting the pool to a gymnasium with NCAA synthetic flooring, reroofing the gym, renovating the restrooms, and making other miscellaneous improvements to the quality of the athletic facility. Improvements to the space will help Keuka College better service and recruit students. The re-roofing of the gym replaced 10,000 square feet of ballasted EPDM over built-up-roofing on phenolic insulation with fully adhered 60 mil reinforced EPDM system, providing positive drainage. Additionally, high performance scalable translucent day-lighting system was added to the windowless auxiliary gym to improve energy efficiency, longevity, and improved day-lighting performance.
Phase II: This renovation replaced exterior doors and windows, created a lobby reception area, added bleacher seats and railing to the auxiliary gym, upgraded HVAC systems for office areas, provided ADA parking, and other miscellaneous improvements to the athletic facility.
