Project Designer - Architecture (Penfield and Syracuse)  

 

PDG has an immediate opening for a Project Designer in our Architecture Group. In this role, you will be responsible for production and development of construction documents with minimal assistance and perform basic coordination tasks within the division and with other divisions. The overall expectations of this position are to be capable of developing construction drawings and specification for issuance to the Project Manager/Architect for review. The Project Designer must be motivated and be capable of performing all duties with minimal guidance. You must be capable of performing construction administration and understand the applicable building code to implement into the design. It must be understood that assignments and hence supervision will differ from time to time.

 

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • 5 year NAAB Accredited degree or equivalent education and work experience combination

Project Technician - Architecture (Penfield)  

 

PDG has an immediate opening for a Project Technician in our Architecture Group. In this role, you will be responsible for production and development of construction documents, while gaining experience in the Architectural field from peers. The overall expectations of this position are to produce construction drawings and understand basic construction practices for implementation during construction administration. Additionally, this position will be expected to produce presentation graphics, conceptual 3d models, and be capable of drafting redlines and creating outline floor plans in an efficient manner. Basic construction administration will be performed. It must be understood that assignments and hence supervision will differ from time to time.

PDG has an immediate opening for a Junior Civil Engineer in our Bridge Design Division. This position is located in our Penfield office. You will prepare design calculations, design details, specifications and cost estimates.

Junior Civil Engineer - Bridge Inspection (Penfield)  

 

PDG is seeking a Junior Engineer in their Bridge Inspection Group for an immediate opening. In this role, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis on bridges to determine the load rating and capacity, provide assistance inspecting bridges, developing condition reports, and calculating quantities. You will work in conjunction with a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). This position includes a career development plan in which the new candidate will receive training and start on an established path towards their PE. This position will be based out of our Penfield office and requires travel to the project locations.  

 

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering; an emphasis in Structural Engineering and Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred

  • Master’s or 1+ year bridge or transportation related experience preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document bridge conditions in a clear concise manner

  • Physically able to perform field inspection work, e.g. carry/climb ladders, wade in streams, work around traffic, work at heights, etc.

Team Leader, Bridge Inspection  

 

PDG has an immediate opening for a Team Leader on a current project in the NYC metro area. In this role, you will perform bridge inspections, write condition reports, schedule inspections, coordinate subs, and ensure safety. You will also direct the work of an ATL to assist in conducting field inspections.

 

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Active NYS PE

  • 3 + years recent Bridge Inspection experience, long span and overhead sign inspection experience; NYSTA, TBTA, Port Authority of NY&NJ, NYSDOT experience; climbing certification and experience preferred

  • NHI Bridge Safety Inspection Course or NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Workshop, plus required safety certifications, i.e. OSHA

Senior Project Engineer, Highway Design (Rochester) 

 

PDG has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Engineer for our Highway Division in our Rochester office. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will work collaboratively to direct and assist in the preparation of drawings and specifications of various transportation projects. You will oversee the execution of projects, including creating design concepts and engineering drawings; providing design and engineering analysis; developing and checking specifications; creating and reviewing cost analysis and bidding documents; preparing project schedules; preparing project proposals; and reviewing work from subordinates. This position depends upon the ability to supervise other project team members, interact with clients, and the ability to apply discretion and independent judgement in the performance of the essential job duties.

 

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field

Project Engineer, Highway Design (Rochester) 

 

PDG has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer for our Highway Division in our Rochester office. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a broad based knowledge and application of basic engineering principles, fundamental theories, engineering techniques, and procedures in geometric roadway design, drainage and grading design, cost estimating, and water and storm sewer design. Past experience with preparing traffic studies (level of service, accident analysis, etc.) is a plus. The candidate would work under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer but be expected to lead the team’s junior staff, offering the opportunity for growth to Senior Project Engineer.

Project Surveyor

Popli Design Group (PDG) is seeking a full-time Licensed Land Surveyor for our Penfield, NY office.  This position will report to the Manager of Land Surveying; it will primarily be an office role, and assisting with field work as needed. 

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • ROW / property line determination

  • Assisting with project management, general survey technical duties and mapping 

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying required

  • NYS Licensed Land Surveyor required

  • 5+ years’ experience with Civil Engineering/Land Survey Firm

  • Must have in-depth experience with Microstation and AutoCAD

  • Experience with NYSDOT survey procedures, a plus

  • The candidate must work well in a team environment

Junior Technician, Survey 

Popli Design Group (PDG) is seeking a full-time Survey Technician for our Penfield, NY office.  The chosen candidate will be trained both in PDG's field and office procedures to assist in the gathering of field data, processing that data through automated mapping and producing final plans.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Follows the direction of the Survey Crew Chief to complete assigned projects.

  • Willing to learn and follow Company procedures and State requirements when applicable.

  • Maintains equipment in good working condition, performs general cleaning and keeps a maintenance record, keeps batteries charged, and communicates the need for replacement batteries or equipment as necessary.

  • Keeps the truck equipped with supplies necessary to complete the day’s work.

  • Adheres to safety procedures and uses all personal safety equipment provided.

  • Processing of field data and CADD drafting.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying OR 3-5 years of experience with a Civil Engineering or Surveying Firm.

  • Able to operate standard survey field equipment, and able to learn new technologies.

  • Ability to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to perform physical work (i.e. strenuous walking, bending, lifting 50 to 100 pounds, loading and unloading equipment, etc.)

  • Must be computer literate and able to adapt to new software.

  • Experience with Survey Pro field software. 

  • Experience in Microstation and InRoads software platforms

  • Experience with Leica GPS Equipment and Leica Infinity Software.

  • Experience with Cyclone Point Cloud Processing Software.
