Construction Inspection
As a sub-consultant, PDG performed Construction Quality Assurance services for the New York State Department of Transportation’s Design Build Contract D900041, to rehabilitate 4 bridges (BINs:1067821 -18,780 SF deck area, 1067822-20,950 SF deck area, 1075751-14,440 SF deck area, 1075752-14,340 SF deck area) on I-278 (the Staten Island Expressway) in Richmond County and one bridge (BIN 1065260 – 12,970 SF deck area) over I-278 (the Gowanus Expressway) in Kings County.
Major elements of the work for the bridges include:

Removal and replacement of reinforced concrete deck.

Removal and replacement of various superstructure deteriorated steel beams.

Replacement of several deteriorated bridge bearings.

Repair of various deteriorated reinforced concrete substructure elements.

Construction of new bridge railings, drainage system, highway lighting, and various safety appurtenances.

Any demolished material may contain asbestos and other hazardous materials.

Utility: Relocation of electrical cables, telephone cables, and ITS facilities are expected.

Work Zone Traffic Control: during construction of the project, traffic detours and lane closures occur during weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
