I-690 Beech Street Viaduct & Teall Avenue Interchange

Construction Inspection

This design-build project involved the reconstruction of a 3/4 mile section of I-690 including replacement of a 1,500 foot viaduct spanning Beech Street, replacement of the bridge over Teall Avenue, and improve Exit 14 at Teall Avenue.  The project addressed safety features, aesthetic appearance, and structural and operational deficiencies on the urbanized segment of Teall Avenue. Elements involved and/or inspected included, but were not limited to:

 

  • Reconstruction of the bridge structure and retaining walls with architectural treatment, using structural steel and reinforced concrete

  • Ramps, pedestrian sidewalks, and guard rails

  • Excessive drainage control elements

  • Increased safety measures and related construction, including slope protection measures

  • Utility relocation and ITS installation

  • Contaminated soil treatment/disposal

  • Landscape elements

  • Community liaison

  • Vehicular and pedestrian traffic control in an urban area

Popli Design Group was the prime construction inspection firm. Project was completed on time and within budget.
