Popli Design Group (PDG) was the Prime construction inspection consultant for the new Rochester Intermodal Station. PDG provided independent oversight of the contractor’s operation and ensured quality construction. The project was constructed in two phases.

Phase 1 of the project included the construction of a temporary station and platform to allow for continuous operations by Amtrak while work is progressing. The railroad bridge adjacent to the site was strengthened to support an expanded track system that is being constructed simultaneously. In addition, a new permanent platform was constructed, eliminating the need for trains traveling in opposite directions to share one track to access the terminal to load and unload passengers. This enhancement will significantly improve travel times and greatly reduce service delays.

Phase 2 of the project involved the demolition of the existing station and the construction of a new two-story terminal with modern amenities, including concessions and Wi-Fi for passengers.
