At approximately 9,000 square feet, the Physicians’ Office Building on Upstate’s Community Campus was renovated to provide a new Family Medicine Suite. This suite includes two procedure rooms, soiled and clean work rooms, phone triage, nurse stations, staff lounge, resident work room, waiting room, various office spaces, and exam rooms. Popli Design Group (PDG) provided HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection engineering services.    

This project involved the replacement of existing packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) units, while moving the ventilation function to a dedicated outdoor air system and installing infrastructure to change the electric heating coils in the PTAC units to hydronic coils. The infrastructure upgrade included a steam to water heat exchanger, hot water circulating pumps and accessories, distribution piping, and extending the BAS (Building Automation System). The sprinkler and fire alarm systems were extended throughout the third floor of the Physicians’ Office Building.

PDG’s electrical scope of work included an extension of the power distribution system to serve the renovated space. It also included the connection to the existing emergency system classified as Type II. Lighting system design, receptacle systems, data/telephone outlets, fire alarm/smoke detection systems, and limited nurse call devices were all part of this project.
