Construction Inspection

The project involved the replacement of a concrete box culvert conveying Hunter Brook as well as the reconstruction and widening of 500 feet of Walnut Street. The existing 24 foot wide roadway and 17 foot wide culvert crossing were not up to standards. The roadway was widened to 32 feet throughout the project limits. Pedestrian accommodations were improved by providing continuous sidewalks in both sides of the roadway and new ADA-compliant crosswalks. “Sharrow” shared lane pavement markings were installed to improve bicycle accommodations. The project was located next to Hoopes Park, and PDG worked closely with the city to ensure that the design of the new structure is harmonious with the surroundings. Storm sewers, sanitary sewers, gas main, and water main were replaced within the project limits, with the gas and water mains being relocated outside the footprint of the culvert.
